OFW processing center opens at Cebu airport

June 26, 2026

An overseas Filipino workers (OFW) processing center officially opened at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2 on Friday.

This center is a joint initiative of Cebu Pacific (CEB), Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation (ACAC) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

It will streamline the processing of travel documents such as overseas employment certificates (OECs) and exit clearances, and will also serve as a hub to aid  OFWs with their departure and return concerns.

“The opening of this facility reflects our ongoing efforts to provide more accessible and responsive services that address the unique needs of OFWs,” CEB Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer Candice Iyog said in a statement.

Meanwhile, DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, who was among the officials who attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, said this initiative aligns with the agency’s efforts to bring government services closer to migrant workers and make these easier to access.

“Our responsibility begins not only when an OFW encounters a problem, but also before departure, giving our OFWs the assistance they need and remaining active until their return,” Cacdac was quoted as saying.

The OFW Facilitation Center is among CEB’s initiatives aimed at supporting OFWs.

To recall, CEB also launched the Juan Flight Closer to Home program, which encourages skilled Filipinos working overseas to return to the Philippines and pursue career opportunities in aviation industry. (PNA)
